SF is the Scottish Government agency responsible for forestry policy, support and regulations. It balances the interests of afforestation and forest management with the conservation of natural and cultural heritage in promoting and regulating forestry and woodland expansion to deliver the Scottish Government’s Forestry Strategy.
SF supports the delivery of the Scottish Government’s priorities for Scotland’s forests, through guidance, advice, incentives and regulations, and by advising Ministers on forestry policy. SF also provides expertise and perspectives on the interpretation and implementation of conservation legislation, and advice and guidance on the management of forest environments to protect and benefit raptors.
