Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS)

FCS serves as the forestry directorate for the Scottish Government. It balances the interests of afforestation and forest management with the conservation of natural and cultural heritage in promoting and regulating forestry and woodland expansion to deliver the Scottish Government’s Forestry Strategy. FCS also cares for in excess of 660 thousand hectares of sustainably managed woodland and open ground on the National Forest Estate (NFE), where it undertakes extensive survey, management and monitoring involving raptors.

FCS carry out, promote and facilitate monitoring and provide relevant data for raptors on the NFE, involving FCS staff and by encouraging volunteers. FCS also provide expertise and perspectives on the conservation and management of raptors in forest environments.
