SRMC – Bethany Walsh

Bethany Walsh is the Scottish Raptor Monitoring Coordinator (SRMC).

Bethany has been in post since August 2026, taking care of the day-to-day running of the Scheme under the guidance of SRMG. The SRMC role is hosted by BTO Scotland, based at Stirling University Innovation Park.

Bethany brings a variety of experiences in ecology and environmental education, including working as a RSPB Research Assistant on the 2026 national Merlin survey, a Ranger and Naturalist Guide at Aigas Field Centre, and coordinating a project to bring young islanders’ voices to COP26.

In her spare time, she loves going birding, cetacean spotting, snorkelling and playing the fiddle. She’s from the Isle of Arran, and goes back to visit when she gets the chance.

Bethany is enjoying working with and learning from all of the dedicated raptor workers and volunteers who study and monitor Scotland’s birds of prey as part of SRMS.
